The employability gap

Having experience and communicating it are different skills.

Students gain valuable experience through assessment, placements, projects, casual work and life beyond university. In selection interviews, they need to connect that experience to the opportunity and explain what they actually contributed.

01 / RECOGNISE

See their transferable strengths.

Identify credible examples of initiative, collaboration, problem-solving and other capabilities from study, work and life.

02 / INTERPRET

Understand what's being assessed.

Read selection criteria, unpack interview questions and choose examples relevant to the role or opportunity.

03 / COMMUNICATE

Build stronger evidence-based answers.

Learn to communicate relevant experiences clearly and credibly through guided practice with TRAIL™.

04 / PRACTISE

Improve through feedback.

Practise responses aloud, reflect on what worked and develop the confidence to respond authentically under pressure.

Built to complement university careers services. Ready to Answer™ adds structured, guided practice and a reusable communication method to existing employability and career development initiatives.
The learning method

Not scripted answers. A clearer way to tell the truth about what you can do.

At the heart of Ready to Answer™ is TRAIL™, our signature framework for helping students communicate their experience with greater clarity, confidence and authenticity. The method is introduced and applied during the facilitated workshop, rather than taught as a generic script.

University delivery options

A practical workshop, shaped around your students.

The university adaptation is being offered initially through tailored pilots. Activities, examples, cohort size and delivery are agreed with each university rather than assuming that every faculty has the same needs.

Focused introduction

Half-day workshop

Approximately 3 hours

Recognise strengths, interpret opportunities and begin developing credible answers using TRAIL™.

Deeper development

Full-day workshop

Approximately 6 hours

  • University stakeholder feedback on relevance and delivery
  • An agreed, cohort-level learning summary
  • Optional follow-up, subject to university agreement and privacy processes

Graduate employability and learning alignment

Activities can support the practical application of communication, reflective practice, career management and transferable skills. Ready to Answer™ complements university teaching, careers services and work-integrated learning initiatives; it does not claim university accreditation, formal curriculum endorsement or guaranteed employment outcomes.

Built from experience

Created from the other side of the interview table.

Ready to Answer™ was created by James Green after decades of interviewing, hiring and leading people across multiple industries.

Across more than 20 years of leadership, James has seen capable people miss opportunities not because they lacked potential, but because they struggled to recognise and communicate the evidence of what they could do. The university program brings that recruitment perspective into practical preparation for internships, placements and graduate interviews.

Frequently asked questions

Planning a university pilot?

Here are some of the questions a careers or employability team is likely to ask as they consider a pilot.

How would this complement our existing careers service?

The workshops focus on helping students recognise their own evidence, structure responses and practise aloud. Content and delivery can be tailored with your team to complement existing university resources rather than duplicate them.

Is this suitable for a particular faculty or student cohort?

Potential pilot cohorts include final-year students, internship applicants, graduate recruitment candidates and students preparing for relevant selection interviews. Examples and scenarios can be adapted to the agreed cohort.

Can the workshop be delivered online?

Yes. Facilitated sessions can be delivered in person or live online, with timing, participant numbers and the balance of interactive practice agreed in advance.

How will we know whether students benefited?

We can agree practical learning measures before the pilot, using student reflections, facilitator observations and university stakeholder feedback. Any reporting and follow-up would be scoped with your team.

What does a university pilot cost?

Pilot pricing is provided through a tailored proposal based on cohort size, delivery format, preparation, learning resources and the agreed evaluation requirements.
