Interview Preparation Coaching

Prepare for the interview — not a performance.

Being good at your job does not automatically make you good at interviews. You can have the right experience, strong results and the capability to succeed in the role — and still struggle to communicate it clearly when the pressure is on.

Interviews are a skill of their own. Strong interview preparation helps you understand what you bring, choose the right examples and connect your experience to what the organisation is actually looking for.

One-to-one interview coaching gives you the opportunity to step outside your own experience, see it through the eyes of an interviewer and practise communicating it with greater clarity, confidence and structure.

01

Build stronger examples

Identify the achievements, challenges and experiences that best demonstrate your capability, then develop examples you can use effectively in behavioural and competency-based questions.

02

Structure without sounding scripted

Learn how to organise your thinking and answer questions with substance and clarity — without memorising lines or sounding like you are performing a rehearsed response.

03

Practise before it matters

Work through realistic interview questions, test your responses and receive practical feedback on what an interviewer may hear, notice or want to explore further.

The goal is not to perform the perfect answer. It is to communicate your real capability clearly when it counts.

REAL-WORLD INTERVIEWING EXPERIENCE

Recruitment experience shaped across complex organisations and industries.

Three-Session Interview Coaching Program

Three sessions. One goal: walk in genuinely prepared.

This is not generic interview training. Your preparation is built around the actual role, organisation and interview you are facing — so every session is focused on what will help you perform at your best when it matters.

01

Session One · Target

Understand what they are looking for

We start with the job ad, position description, selection criteria and organisation. Together, we'll identify the capabilities and evidence the interviewer is likely to be looking for — and where your strongest experience connects.

02

Session Two · Build

Build strong, flexible answers

We'll develop a bank of relevant examples, prepare for likely behavioural and competency-based questions, and strengthen how you communicate your contribution, judgement and impact — with enough structure to stay focused without sounding rehearsed.

03

Session Three · Practise

Practise under real interview pressure

Put your preparation into practice through a realistic mock interview. You'll receive direct, practical feedback on your answers, examples and communication, followed by final refinement before the real interview.

You won't leave with a script to memorise.

You'll walk into the interview knowing what matters, which examples you want to draw on, how to approach difficult questions and how to communicate your capability with clarity, confidence and authenticity.

The TRAIL™ Method

A stronger interview starts with knowing what you want them to remember.

Most experienced candidates do not struggle because they have too little to say. They struggle because they have too much. Effective interview preparation is about deciding what matters, connecting it to the role and communicating it clearly enough that the interviewer can recognise your capability.

Prepare with purpose, not a script.

TRAIL™ provides a practical framework for organising your thinking and preparing strong interview answers that are relevant, evidence-based and easy for an interviewer to follow.

Understand what the role and interviewer are actually looking for

Select examples that demonstrate genuine contribution and impact

Structure behavioural answers without sounding rehearsed

Communicate the value you want the interviewer to remember

The goal is not to perform a character. It is to communicate with character — clearly, credibly and in a way that helps the interviewer understand what you can bring.

Before Interview Preparation

What if you're not sure what comes next?

Sometimes the interview isn't the problem. You're still deciding which opportunity is worth pursuing.

You might know you're ready for something different without yet knowing what that next move should be. Perhaps you've been made redundant, reached the end of a chapter, started questioning your current direction or simply want to be more deliberate about what comes next.

In that situation, interview preparation may be a step too early. Before tailoring applications or preparing answers, it can be useful to create some space, clarify what matters and work out what kind of opportunity you actually want to move towards.

Start with one focused career clarity session.

A one-to-one coaching conversation focused on where you are now, what matters to you and what the next chapter could look like. There is no expectation that you arrive with the answer — the purpose of the session is to help you think it through.

Interview Coaching FAQs

A few things you might be wondering.

Good interview preparation should help you communicate your experience with greater clarity and confidence — without turning you into someone you're not. Here are some of the questions people often have before getting started.

Who is interview coaching for?

Interview coaching can help people at many different stages of their career — from graduates and professionals pursuing their next opportunity through to emerging leaders, senior leaders and executives preparing for significant roles.

What matters most isn't your job title. It's having an opportunity you care about and wanting to communicate your experience, capability and value as clearly and confidently as possible.

Do I need to have a specific interview booked already?

No. Having a particular role, job advertisement, position description or selection criteria gives us something very useful to work with, but interview preparation can begin before the interview itself is confirmed.

If you're still unsure what kind of role you actually want to pursue, a career clarity session may be the better starting point.

Should I book one session or the three-session program?

It depends on what you need, where you are in your preparation and how much time you have.

The single interview preparation session is ideal when you have an upcoming interview and want focused preparation, practice and feedback. We can concentrate on the areas most likely to make a difference for that particular opportunity.

The three-session interview coaching program provides more time to analyse the role, identify and strengthen your examples, prepare for likely questions and test your preparation through a realistic mock interview.

Will you give me interview answers to memorise?

No — and that's deliberate. Memorised answers can quickly sound rehearsed and often fall apart when an interviewer asks the question differently, probes more deeply or follows up on something unexpected.

Instead, we'll work with your real experience so you understand the stories, examples and evidence you can draw on naturally. The aim is to give you structure without giving you a script.

Can you help with behavioural and competency-based interview questions?

Yes. Behavioural and competency-based questions are a significant part of interview preparation. We'll work on choosing examples that actually answer the question, structuring your response and making sure the interviewer can clearly understand the situation, your contribution, your thinking and the impact you had.

The goal isn't to force every answer into a rigid formula. It's to give your answers enough structure to be easy to follow while still sounding natural and authentic.

What if my interview is only a few days away?

A focused interview preparation session can be particularly useful when time is short. If there isn't enough time for the complete three-session program, we can concentrate on the areas most likely to make a difference.

That might include reviewing the role, identifying your strongest examples, preparing for likely or difficult questions, or testing how clearly you're communicating your experience. Where possible, we'll work around your interview timeline so the preparation is useful before the real conversation.

Do you offer interview coaching near me?

Interview coaching is available online across Australia, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and regional locations.

Sessions are conducted one-to-one by video, which means we can work together wherever you are while still practising in a realistic face-to-face interview environment. We'll also tailor the preparation to the format of your actual interview, whether it is in person, by video, over the phone or another setting.

What's the difference between interview coaching and career clarity coaching?

Interview coaching is for when you have a reasonably clear opportunity or direction and want to prepare to communicate your value effectively through the interview and selection process.

Career clarity coaching starts one step earlier. It's for the question: “What do I actually want to do next?” If you're not yet sure which opportunity you should be pursuing, creating clarity around that may be more useful than jumping straight into interview preparation.
